there is one brother in the interior of british columbia that is making much more money in a month than most people make in a year.

This was a few years ago, so I can't say for sure. (My memory is not what it used to be lol) All I know is that there were tons of JW's involved in it at the time, so it's quite likely that some would make it to the top. My sis in law had JW's from all over Canada in her income "stream".

My sis in law is involved in Melaluca. She got my hubby and I involved a few years ago. How can you say no to family? It's funny, they were so against Amway, but I didn't see much difference between the two.
It was very hard to have to keep ordering so much money worth of product every month, especially with just the two of us, maybe a family would be different. The products were ok, but they weren't all that special IMHO.
We never signed anyone up, I could not go to others in the hall and try to recruit, just not me. We finally stopped getting the stuff.
Went to a taped showing of their national conference and I couldn't wait to get out of there! It was really creepy, just way tooooo much like an assembly.

I' ve been a fader for almost 10 years. It's been almost that long since I stopped going door to door or reporting time. It's been three years since I've been to a meeting, and even then I was not regular. I still go to the Memorial (travel out of town to attend my mom's hall) and usually get some of the DA in, although I can't stand all three days. Once and a while I'll attend a CA, mostly with my mom, and from time to time visit my inlaws assemblies just to keep up the facade.

i was talking to my grown ex jw daughter the other day and we were discussing the new cathedral downtown.
the old one is still there but small.
i was telling her that the hebrew letters for "jehovah's name" is inscribed on the top of the cathedral.
JW's are certainly not the only ones to use the name Jehovah or YHWH.
I've been listening to a Christian radio station, and watch various programs on TV and was really shocked the first time I heard a pastor say the name Jehovah. I can't believe how much other religions actually use the name. I think JW's have their heads stuck in the sand when it comes to other religions and what they do.

I had Lucky Charms, Count Chocula, Boo Berry, Frankin Berry etc, we had hot cross buns at Easter, and my mom certainly never checked the labels on the cat food/dog food, and Black Forest Ham was her absolute favourite meat for sandwiches! We couldn't drive by a Dairy Queen with my grandma with out stopping for a cone.
Reading here has helped me appreciate that I really didn't have things too bad while in the "borg", and makes me appreciate my mom all the more. I think I'm going to get her some flowers and a card and drop by to see her on Sunday.

how many of us imagine winning the big one, and all our problems in life would be solved.
we could get whatever we wanted without worrying about money, could buy our way out of almost any situation (like the rich folks do), go on any vacation anywhere in the world, dress to the nines on a daily basis, and use our wealth to get others to do our bidding.. money = sex, power, influence, decadent luxury = happiness???.

I've been thinking and talking about this alot lately. One of my clients won 10 million in a lottery last year. They have a handicapped child, so this makes things so much easier for them, and now that child will have no worries over who will provide for it when the parents pass away. They've bought a nice cottage, and all the toys that go along with it etc, but managing the money if a full time job in itself!
I think I'm usually a pretty happy person to begin with, but hey, we all have day to day problems facing us, and usually money is one of the biggest problems, so with that one out of the way, hell yes I'd be happier!!! lol

i always hated being alone on thanksgiving or christmas.
what bothered me was that if it were known you accepted an invitation by relatives it was frowned upon.
but what got to me was this: is god more pleased that i am home looking at four walls alone rather than being over somebody's house??
I usually spent the holidays with my grandparents. Thanksgiving and Easter were usually just like another long weekend off school, no big deal. Christmas, my grandma would usually cook a turkey and invite my parents. (Funny now that I think of it, she never invited my elder uncle and his family, and they lived in the same city!!)
Now, at Christmas I always cook a big turkey dinner with all the trimmings. I love it!! My mom has no problem with it. One year my sister in law and I got together and decided we'd all exchange gifts. Well that made my mom very uncomfortable so we didn't do that again, but this year we had a family fun night early in January, did a gift exchange, had a pinata etc, and she was fine with it. I guess as long as you don't do those things on the actual day that everyone else is it's ok.

I'm so sorry that your family is treating you that way. How sad for them to miss out on their grandchildren/neices or nephews. I hope they come to their senses when your child is born. Even though I'm not family, I wish you - CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!!

You are right, for your own mental health, it is best to forgive the person, but you do not have to forget. Sometimes you can never forget.

I remember when my mom brought her great neice to the KH. Her mother had her out of wedlock (do people still use that term now??? lol).
One old busy body was so upset! How dare she bring a "bastard" child into the KH? This was a baby for pete's sake, innocent of any wrongdoing! How can people think the way they do, what love was shown to that innocent child? How can you say such things and call yourself a christian. My mom knew she had a problem with it and confronted her outside the hall. She didn't have too much to say for herself when confronted. (and to top it off, the child in question was this busy bodies great grand child)
